We had an incredible time two weeks ago welcoming Dr. Chuck Radis back to the Rotary! As a physician, humanitarian, and author of the new book The Mystery in the Room, Dr. Radis once again transfixed the room with his stories.His journey is a remarkable one, ranging from his life as a roving physician on the islands of Casco Bay to his deep humanitarian roots in Africa. Through the Maine-African Partnership for Social Justice (MAPSJ), he continues to bridge the gap between Maine and Africa, providing vital scholarships for immigrants in Portland and supporting public health programs for South Sudanese refugees in Uganda.
The "Bates Crew" Reunion. The event was made even more special by the presence of his "band of brothers" from Bates College. This loyal group traveled in to support Dr. Radis during his presentation, hosted by their fellow classmate—our very own Marblehead Rotarian, Keith Taylor. Watching this group support one another was a testament to enduring friendship. Whether they are discussing empathy in medicine or hanging out like a tight-knit "Grateful Dead" style crew, their bond is as inspiring as the work they do for the community. It was a pleasure to host this group and hear such a powerful message of kindness and global service.
