Oh my goodness — it’s still January! ❄️But who’s afraid of cold and ice? Not the Marblehead Rotarians. Winter hasn’t slowed us down at all. We were especially excited to learn that our own Kimberly Grad, director of the Abbot Public Library, has been selected as one of 15 judges nationwide for the prestigious Caldecott Medal. This award, given annually for the most distinguished American children’s picture book illustration, is one of the highest honors in children’s literature. What a remarkable achievement—and what a source of pride for Marblehead to have one of its own serving at the national level.
On January 15, Marblehead Rotary proudly recognized Alison Richards as a Paul Harris Fellow for her outstanding service. Since joining the club, Alison has brought new life to projects, from organizing the biannual Red Cross Blood Drive to championing major initiatives such as the 5K Run, Polio Eradication, and the Lobstah Raffle. She also serves as an ambassador for our club wherever she travels, always bringing fresh ideas and connections back home. Her energy and dedication help turn good intentions into real impact.
We also welcomed our District Governor, Pooja Singla, whose visit gave us a chance to connect around Rotary’s shared mission. Rotary International's theme for the year, “Unite for Good,” perfectly reflects the spirit of our club — showing up for one another and for our community, no matter the season.
